HOW DO I BECOME INVOLVED IN EMS?
- Take a First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic Class
- Upon completion of the class you will take a written and practical examination
- Upon successful completion of the written and practical examination you will be issued a certification card by the Pennsylvania Department of Health
- First Responder certification cards are valid for 3 years
- Emergency Medical Technician certification cards are valid for 3 years
- Paramedic certification cards are valid indefinitely (must maintain medical command for certification to remain active)
- Upon receiving your certification card, you may begin working for an Emergency Medical Service
- Contact your local emergency medical service for information about joining their organization
